A nice find in Ubi area. Send car for service and found this Japanese restaurant nearby for lunch. Tried the unagi set and the unagi was thick and nice. Picked cucumber is good and miso soup is comforting. Went on to try the chirashi set and it’s also not bad, albeit not as much variety of fishes in the mix. Service was over the top good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ANTON CHIA

If you're in the Ubi area and looking for a nice Japanese restaurant, Jiro is a hidden gem that should be on your list. Newly opened, they serve authentic Japanese cuisine. You will be greeted by Restaurant Manager William, who ensures you have the best experience possible.

The ambiance of Jiro is a blend of casual comfort and understated elegance. With three private rooms, it caters to both intimate and larger gatherings, making it suitable for various occasions. It's a place where both relaxed lunches and elegant dinners feel equally at home.

The team, with over 15 years of experience in Japanese cuisine, ensures that every dish, from the set lunches to the à la carte menu, is thoughtfully prepared. The restaurant is renowned for its fresh sashimi, savoury maki, and crisp tempura, all complemented by a selection of handpicked sake.”

Signature Dishes

Spicy Chashu Maki

A highlight of the menu, the Spicy Chashu Maki wraps tender Chashu in rice, topped with seaweed, offering a satisfying spice level. It’s a bit different, and I loved it.

Unagi Rice Bowl

This dish features grilled eel glazed in a sweet teriyaki-like sauce, served on a bed of rice. The unagi was notably thick and flavourful, served alongside tangy pickled cucumber and a comforting bowl of miso soup.

Toro Saba

For those craving a warm and comforting dish, the Toro Saba is an excellent choice. It refers to premium-grade harvested mackerel that is richer in fats compared to normal saba. It was lightly salted and well-grilled, with a slightly crisp texture. The skin was nice and crisp, while the meat was succulent and juicy.
