Not the first time having their Signature Lobster Porridge which was so flavourful and the Southern Australia Lobster was really fresh! My family enjoyed their other popular dish, Steven Chicken and Soon Hock was cooked really well and tender. Had their Green Dragon Vegetables with Scallops, the portion was pretty generous and yummy. Having frequented Orchid Live Seafood over the years, I've come to understand why this spot holds a special place in Singapore’s dining scene. Particularly famous for introducing the city to its unique Lobster Porridge, this family-operated Teochew restaurant, nestled in Orchid Country Club since 1999, skillfully combines traditional cooking with a modern, dynamic twist.

The keyword here is 'live.' The unparalleled freshness of their seafood, especially the lobsters, is a testament to their commitment to quality. And interestingly, they are one of the country's largest lobster importers!

The restaurant's portions are generously sized, making it ideal for family gatherings or dining in large groups. The pricing is reasonable too, adding to the appeal for regular visits. Despite its simple appearance, the restaurant exudes a lively atmosphere, especially during weekends, so making a reservation is always a good idea.

The Lobster Porridge is a dish that we always look forward to. Prepared in a Teochew style, the rice is cooked in a savory broth for over four hours, perfectly complementing the lobster, especially if you opt for the Southern Australian Rock Lobsters.

Steven Chicken

The Steven Chicken, an homage to the restaurant's founder, Chef Steven Chua, is another favourite. Coated in a unique marmite and honey sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds, its sweet and savoury flavours, combined with a crispy texture, appeal to all ages.

Teochew Cold Crabs

For those who favour tradition, the Teochew Cold Crabs are a must-try. Served chilled with a plum sauce and vinegar dip, and topped with ginger slices, these crabs preserve their natural freshness and sweetness, with the yellow roe always impressing.

Our Top Pick

While the above dishes are signature must-orders, my personal favourite is the South African Braised Abalone with Seasonal Vegetables. The abalones are braised for two days in a flavourful broth and then topped with a sauce that has been simmered for 12 hours. Served with fresh seasonal vegetables, this dish is a perfect blend of the sea's bounty and the land's harvest.
