Discover This Unique Blend of Hainanese and Western Cuisine at Tanjong Katong's Pet-Friendly Seng House

Singapore certainly isn't short on cafes, especially in the bustling area of Tanjong Katong. Among them, Seng House stands out as a gem worth adding to your cafe-hopping journey, whether it's for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.

If Seng House rings a bell, it's likely due to its connection with Seng Coffee Bar, a charming hidden café near Kembangan. Additionally, the same family that runs the popular Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge at Changi Road operates this place.

Seng House provides both indoor and alfresco dining experiences, with the latter boasting a sheltered, pet-friendly outdoor area, ideal for pet owners rain or shine. Its interior reflects the family’s Hainanese heritage, featuring a white and Neptune-green color scheme, green mosaic tiles, and wooden furniture, all combining to create the perfect blend of a 70s local coffee house's charm and contemporary style.

As for the menu, you'll find a range of options, from hearty breakfasts to satisfying lunch and dinner plates, mostly specializing in a fusion of Hainanese and Western cuisine. It's a place where you can enjoy both a delicious meal and a great cup of coffee in a comfortable and inviting setting.

Signature Dishes

Hainanese Pork Chop

One of the signature dishes here - of course, we had to try it out. Made with Iberico pork, the chop was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It was accompanied by fries, green peas, and drizzled with a special Hainanese sauce.

Claypot Chicken Rice

It's a refined take on the classic, with tender boneless chicken thighs and fragrant rice that's just slightly charred for an extra depth of flavour. Served with chicken consommé and the family's special chili sauce, this dish brought back memories of hawker classics.

Oxtail stew

Soul-comforting food at its finest. The stew features braised oxtail alongside mashed potatoes, carrots, celery, and parsley. The oxtail is tender and flavorful, pairing well with the creamy mashed potatoes.
