Great Taiwanese 蛋餅 - one of the more authentic ones I’ve tasted in Singapore (with the right sauces too!) in a cosy cafe setting. Prices are a little on the higher side for breakfast items but still worth a try if you’re craving a hearty Taiwanese meal :) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yan Ni Tan

Savour Authentic Taiwanese Breakfast Fare All Day Long at True Breakfast: Omelette, Scallion Pancakes, and Beyond!

When it comes to Taiwanese-style breakfast, there's a unique sense of comfort and simplicity that we can't resist. We've been missing the delightful taste of a Taiwanese breakfast, and True Breakfast in Singapore is our remedy! Originally tucked away in Cuppage Plaza, it has now opened its second branch at Capitol, bringing a taste of Taiwan to City Hall.

Fun fact: The cafe name cleverly plays on the word 初 ‘chu’ (translated as Beginning or First in English), which sounds like ‘True’ in True Breakfast.

The lively atmosphere at Capitol sets the stage for an indulgent all-day Taiwanese breakfast. Think wooden tables and white finishings creating that perfect cozy vibe. Now, let's talk menu—it's got everything from mains and noodles to Taiwanese Omelette, Thick Toast, Soup, and Snacks. As fans of Taiwanese Omelette Toast, Scallion Pancakes, and Meat Floss Egg Crepes, we couldn't wait to dive into True Breakfast's offerings.

Signature Dishes

Pork Floss and Cheese Omelette

Our breakfast adventure kicked off with a classic—the Pork Floss and Cheese Omelette. The thin crepe-like texture, rolled up with savoury pork floss and gooey cheese, offered a taste of authentic Taiwanese comfort. And here's the pro tip—drizzle on that specially prepared fragrant garlic sauce to take it up a notch.

Taiwanese Fried Chicken Cutlet

Next up, a guilty pleasure for many—the Taiwanese Fried Chicken Cutlet. With its thin, crispy skin and tender, well-seasoned meat, it was a finger-licking treat that quickly became addictive.

Braised Pork Rice (aka Lu Rou Fan)

And because no Taiwanese breakfast is complete without it, we dived into the Braised Pork Rice. True Breakfast nailed it with the well-balanced combo of lean and fatty pork belly, sweet braised pork, and all the fixings like pearl rice, a half-braised egg, and preserved vegetables. It's like a comforting embrace from Taiwan. Oh, and don't forget to ask for the chili—it's the perfect companion to the dish.

Just a heads up—check for availability, as this Taiwanese favourite follows special timing for both weekdays and weekends.
