Being around for longer than Singapore has been independent, Swee Choon is no doubt a heritage brand well loved by Singaporeans. More than just dim sum, Swee Choon serves a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. Burma Social

📍 Tanjong Pagar

Burma Social has freshly popped up on Tras Street, and it's the kind of spot that'll have you reaching for your phone – not just to snap the 'Gram-worthy decor and dishes but to tell your friends they've got to come check it out. As you step in, you're welcomed with their 'Golden Hour' cocktail, and they'll even swing a traditional silk scarf over your shoulder, getting you all set up for a lush evening. This place isn't just about looking good – though with those Burmese wishing bells and chic interiors, it's got that covered too. Dishes like the Lahpet Nay Wai Thoke are as tasty as they are pretty, and that Ngapali Salt Baked Fish feels like a seaside holiday on a plate. It’s about getting together, trying something new, and having a story to tell after.

Derwish Turkish Restaurant

📍Bussorah Street

Leading to the iconic Masjid Sultan, in Kampong Glam, Bussorah street is known its high concentration of Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurants which lined up the street as well as its electric atmosphere when the street comes alive during meal time! Among the many Turkish restaurants, Derwish is one which stood out for us. The restaurant itself is elegantly decorated and it does look like a palace straight out from the Ottoman Empire days. But what truly wowed us were the to-die-for dishes. The fragrant lavash and hummus got us off to a great start, the cheesy and savory Hungkar Begendi was a delight but gosh, the Tajin Lamb Shank was the BOMB. Soft, tender, flavorful and no gamey taste, the lamb shank is your must order at Derwish. And we cant end the night without having the sweet, crispy and chewy Kunefe! Dining at Derwish brings you on an unique culinary & cultural adventure that makes you feel like a tourist in Singapore! Head over there soon! 🛎  Get a complimentary Baba Ghanoush when you dine-in and spend $60 or more!
